Recommended Beer Drinking Establishments

Brickskeller, Wahington, DC
This is the Mecca of all Beer Bars. Located in Washington, DC, the Brickskeller has been serving for 50+ years and features the world's largest array of beers from around the worl at nearly 1,000!
Belgo Central, London England and now in New York City
Belgo Cental is a must whenever I travel through London. Loaded with a huge assortment of Belgian beers to go along with a very good menu (try the Mussels). Many of my beer glasses come from Belgo Central, as they also sell everyone of the glasses they serve customers with. (I like the capatalist who runs the place). The décor is out of this world, literally. You start by taking an industrial elevator down to the basement, where you walk past the kitchen and into the beer cellars for dinner. Loud and fun, Belgo kicks ass. The Belgo in NYC isn't as outrageous and doesn't offer quite as many beers, but is still an excellent stop.
Galaxy Hut, Arlington, VA
A small hole in the wall on Wilson Blvd., Galaxy hut is a mellow place for chilling out while having a surprisingly good selection of beers. Try to avoid it when they have a band - the music is always a disaster area, and the place is just too small for a band - its the size of a 2 car garage. Not much food either.
Hofbrau House, Munich, Germany
The Hofbrau house, although touristy, is still the real deal. The largest drinking establishment in the world, you can get lost in there. Food is good too. Of course what goes better with beer than bratwurst and brezen (pretzels). The beer menu is limited to a Pilsner, a Hefe Weiss and a dunkel Hefe Weiss, but they are quite tasty, and light enough to drink a bunch of them. If you go during the summertime, I recommend you sit outside, as it can get real hot and real loud inside. If you are a college guy with a big posse, then stay inside. There are you guys singing and banging on the tables, and even dancing on the tables. Quite a site. Outside is better if you are with your girl.
Monks Café, Philadelphia PA
Monks, located off of Rittenhouse Square, features a great selection of Belgian beers and cuisine. They have beers on tap that I can't even find elsewhere.
Peculiar Pub, New York City
New York's premiere beer bar, the Peculiar pub greets you with saw dust on the floor and a boat load of beers on the menu.
Rams Head Tavern, Annapolis, MD
As part of the Fordam Brewery, Rams Head offers a great selection of beers in addition to those from the brewery. In the summertime, nothing beasts a Franziskaner Hefe-Weiss from the tap and a cup of Maryland crab soup, which is among the best I've had.
Somerset Grille, Boston MA
Features hundreds of beers, not to mention a good number on tap. Also know for super hot wings.
Chapel Hill, NC
These two come recommended from a friend at my former company.

Carolina Brewery.
Pacific Coast Brewing Co, Oakland, CA
A classic old style English brew pub, featuring hearty food and strong beers. Located in "Old Oakland" next to the Convention Center/Mariott. This place is definitely for guys - meat and potates rule the menu (meatloaf, sausages, pot pies, etc), and their beers are mostly in the 7%-10% ABV range.
The Black Horse, San Francisco CA
This is the smalles bar you can possibly have in the world. I place it at about 7'x15', with the bar taking up most of the space. Max capacity is about 12. The menu is limited to 3 beers, 1 cheese board, and some cigars. But it has a wonderful homey feel (how can it not - it looks as if someone converted a hallway into a bar). Joe Gilmartin, the owner/bartender is always up for a good chat. check it out.
