Tasting Impressions:
Wow. Very chocolatey and carameley. Surprising given its relative light color. Sweet. Little bitterness. Slightly heavy taste. Aftertaste is a bit dry; not too much. Smooth, with medium thickness.

1/31/2005 10:18:46 AM  dcameron  toronto  tartan, The LCBO stopped importing it several years ago. They may be able to order it. This is my fav beer too! Love it. My local LCBO couldn't keep it in. If you didn't see it first on the shelf, all gone. Let me know if you find it. Thanks
4/20/2009 5:15:36 PM  ratkinson  nothern ontario  I've been looking for this beer since college, I had it in a pub in London Ontario, and once in Brampton ontario, but that was over 6 years ago. When I go to pubs I ask the bartendars and they never heard of it. A Scotish Pub in Barrie Ontario has a sign up, so I thought I was in luck, but they never heard of it. I thought maybe I was loosing my mind and it didn't exist. Any luck on finding where I can get a great pint of beer!
12/10/2009 5:13:17 PM  rob hayward  mansfield uk  unfortunately this beer is no longer produced after scottish+newcastle took over the brewery and closed it in 2004/5. It maybe available on special order in keg form (88pints) still from the brewery in edinburgh
8/27/2010 12:07:34 AM  patrocles  Vancouver, Canada  I've been to Scotland in the Spring in several places. I asked about the Tartan and just the old fogies behind the bar knew what I was talking about. It looks like (as posted earlier) the Youngsters did stop the production years ago. Reason? The old guys told me the line that they have been told to say, and that is...a beer like Tartan is out of nowadays palates (pizza eaters while browsing the Internet) that would rather enjoy the Budweiser, Heineken or Corona. Was not hard to understand after I looked along the bar and most of the beer dispensers handles were labeled with these new 'creations'. What a waste of tradition, quality and enjoyment! Tartan rocks! Bring it back!
10/12/2012 6:49:37 AM  Neil Munro  Ardross, Ross shire, Scotland  You do still get Tartan Special - the Station Hotel sells it - a great beer - kinda like English Bitters, not so harsh as McEwan's Export.
