5/28/2003 9:44:18 PM  a singh  boston  shandy is the beer/cooler of the gods!! very light and not overpowering like a typical beer. whoever wrote it tasted like "flat coke" needs new taste buds. this stuff is AWESOME!!
6/19/2003 3:36:57 PM  brew mon  miami  Just for everyones information, Carib Shandy comes in three flavors Ginger, Sorrel and Lime all of which are wonderful they are not "beer" and are not meant to be! True they are low in carbonation like they are meant to be all three flavors are "AWESOME"
12/26/2004 6:31:03 PM  An irate visitor  Trinidad  Shandy Carib. SHANDY CARIB IT IS CALLED AND *NOT* CARIB SHANDY. You went wrong before you even started. Get it right please. At 1.2 % alcohol It is NOT a beer. Get it right. If you were to LOOK UP the MEANING of the WORD "SHANDY" You would see that it is defined as " A drink made of beer and lemonade". Shandy Carib, brewed in Champs Fleurs, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is made in 3 flavours Ginger, Sorrel and Lime. It is, again, NOT a beer. If you think it tastes like a "flat coke" then it means that you're used to drinking awful things. Get off the coke and sharpen your tastebuds please. You are most certainly ignorant as to what shandy let alone what sorrel is. The ginger shandy tastes much like Trinidadian ginger beer, firey and robust with just a hint of Carib beer. Shandy Carib is a MIXTURE of Carib beer and the respective flavours. Please, in future at the very least do adequate research *before* expressing opinions such as you have.
12/28/2004 9:28:08 AM  The Holmes  Everywhere  I don't care what you tribal schmucks call the beer; the company is Carib, the product is called Shandy. That is how this site is organized you sand eating island putz. Is it called a Accord Honda or a Honda Accord, coconut for brains? If it has beer in it, and is sold in a bottle, then I will review it. The civilized world is thankful that they have been warned about this low quality piece of 3rd world crap that serves as your only locally produced product besides ugly women. Why is it that every bird brain thinks their favorite product is so great, when its all they have ever tried? Compare it to the rest of the world's drinks and then maybe I'll listen.
1/12/2005 2:07:36 PM  JC  NY  I doubt if someone like you would listen after your ridiculous "tribal schmuck" comment. Clearly your world is not as civilized as you think, if you cannot get past basic history. If you're from "everywhere" then you should appreciate everyone's opinions without name calling or unmitigated assumptions about people born in the Carribean. I guess its obvious that idiots who live "Everywhere" wouldn't know that Trinidad is NOT a third world country. Continue to sit on your couch, and make uneducated assumptions, I'd make sure to throw a history book your way, but then you'd probably use it as a coffee table to rest your beer. Continue to kill both those brain cells with the beer drinking.
1/28/2005 7:29:34 PM  KB   Long Island  To The Holmes, You probably won't care what I have to say considering that I qualify as "tribal schmuck" due to the fact that I was born in Trinidad, but your review is way off base. Despite the fact that Shandy Carib is brewed with beer, it is meant to be enjoyed as a SOFT DRINK. The three flavors taste nothing like flat coke. Ginger Shandy reminds me of a powerful ginger beer. I sincerely hope that no one gives credence to any of your comments because you have clearly demonstrated the fact that you are an uncouth, inurbane, xenophobic ignoramus. Good day.
12/25/2005 11:08:03 AM  TA  NY  My first sample was on Christmas Day. The color alone is very intriguing. I tried the "red" colored Shandy Carib. The flavor is very interesting, and not over baring of anything! My mom and I tried to identify the flavor because there wasn't an ingredient labeling. However, my mom was able to identify that one of the flavors was sorrel! I look foward to trying other flavors definitely. Keep up the good work!! NY
11/21/2007 10:42:22 AM  TriniFOX  Houston, TX  "sand eating island putz" & "coconut for brains" hummmmmm stop me if I'm wrong Holmes from Everywhere.... but aren't those the things that a lot of 1st world people work hard all their lives for? To retire on a sandy beach somewhere in the shade of coconut trees? No? Ah well, thank you 1st world country for making me 2 Million US dollars before I am 35. I think will always remember your post, sitting by my pool over looking the coconut lined beach outside my 2nd home. 1st world = stupid consumerist lifestyles that only helps the smart 3rd world people get rich. Trinidad is not third world by the way. Get educated you fool. How many stamps do you have in your passport? Do you even have a passport? I have had over 300 types of beer and it is all still subjective to what do you like? Shandy is a brew but not a beer. It tastes great.... to some (and to me).... but not to everyone.
4/15/2008 12:36:08 PM  Freddie  BC  To The Holmes....hopefully not referring to Sherlock since he could read. If you had even taken a look at the label, you would see the name, Shandy Carib. Not Carib Shandy. Do you refer to Macintosh Computers as Computers Macintosh? I doubt that you could even pronounce a word that long. You should also know that it has never claimed to be a beer, but, a shandy. Do you know what a shandy is? No? Go look it up. It starts with an 's'.
4/15/2008 4:03:56 PM  The Holmes    Freddie, you can't even come up with a good counter example. Is Computers the company? no. Apple is the company. Carib is the company here. To be clear, its Apple MacIntosh not MacIntosh Apple. Understand that companies sell brands, not the other way around.
12/13/2008 9:07:34 AM  Rich Snyder  Columbia, MD  Why argue over how the order of "Shandy" and "Carib"? It's very obviously meant to be "Shandy Carib". Look at "Diet Coke" and "Coke Zero". It's "Shandy Carib". It's not a beer. It has a refreshing tropical flavor that I like.
1/12/2009 1:58:33 PM  Trinigyual  Virginia  Your clearly have no idea how GREAT this beverage is. You say it tastes like "flat coke" the audacity of you assumption is appauling. First of all if you don't know the culture associated with the drink don't even bother to make a review about it & criticize it without fully understanding its background. I only drink Shandy and I have tasted all of the flavours and they are all wonderdul in their own right. I am a Trinidadian, born & raised so I know what I am talking about. You need to re-evaluate you thoughts & then try again. Your opinion is valid but you need all your facts first. Do try it again & go from there. GOD BLESS!
3/25/2009 12:13:37 PM  SB  Texas  Having just returned from Trinidad and trying all varieties of Shandy I respectfully disagree with the initial reviewer. I found the beverage delightful and highly refreshing. It is NOT however a "beer" but a soft drink with a touch of beer to flavor it. If you have any contact with the local residents you would be aware that many beverages there contain a small portion of alcohol but are not meant to be "beers" any more than a "root beer" is a beer. BTW- my preference is the ginger flavored. It reminded me of a "hard" ginger ale. The sorrel reminded me of the ginger one with a touch of grenadine. And the lime was a bit sharper in flavor. All were quite tasty!
9/8/2009 11:02:06 AM  Trini-expat  Doylestown, PA  I think the first reviewer should have a second taste or try a different flavour. While it may not be for everyone, the 'flat-coke' description is awfully harsh! Try another one...COLD! It is an awesome drink!!
